The Role

We are looking for a SUPERSTAR to be our first Senior Accountant. While the primary responsibilities of a Senior Accountant are to accurately record and account for Sunbit’s transactions, close the general ledger on a timely basis each month and generate monthly financial statements, we are looking for an experienced accountant to lay the foundation for scaling a tech-enabled, successful start-up.

Job Responsibilities

  • Oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions; review or prepare journal entries
  • Review and analyze general ledger transactions and accounts, using technical judgment to ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
  • Generate monthly P&L and balance sheet statements on a timely basis
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Prepare financial statements and other financial reports lenders’ require
  • Drive continuous improvement - update accounting processes and procedures while making best use of automation tools
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Assist with external audit
  • Provide information requested for preparation of tax return
  • Liaise with the Finance team to improve financial procedures
  • As the accounting team grows and as requested – plan, assign and review work of accounting assistants
  • Perform other related duties or ad hoc projects within the scope of responsibilities

Experience / Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
  • 5+ years professional accounting experience (at least 2 years in public preferred)
  • Proven experience as an accounting manager, supervisor, or senior accountant
  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP (IFRS a plus)
  • Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process
  • Experience preparing financial statements preferred
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to take initiative, work autonomously and handle multiple demands from multiple people
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to all levels


  • Experience working for a start-up or high growth enterprise
  • Consumer finance industry experience
  • Hands-on experience with QuickBooks
